White out.

Everyone daring enough to wear white is making a statement, intentionally or otherwise. White attire can produce in statements of grandness, tackiness, egotism, sex, cash, laziness, and cleanliness to name a few.

Seeing how statements are best made in groups - why not be part of the Fashion Magazine flash mob event?

This Saturday at Toronto Life Square Fashion Magazine will be holding a 'flash mob' event. You may be thinking what exactly is a flash mob event? Let Webster tell you: "a group of people who organize on the Internet and then quickly assemble in a public place, do something bizarre, and disperse".

Although the first instance of flash mobbing was way back in 2003, it's origins were a mystery until 2006 when Harpers published an article informing readers that the inventor extraordinaire was none other then the magazine's editor - Bill Wasik.

Wasik claimed that he created flash mobs as a social experiment designed to poke fun at hipsters and to highlight the cultural atmosphere of conformity and of wanting to be an insider or part of "the next big thing''. I like social experiments, poking fun at hipsters, highlighting cultural conformity, and being part of the next big thing- so, I'll be there.

The idea is meet at the NW corner of Victoria street & Dundas Street East and look for white balloons. After that move to Dundas square where assembled participants will freeze for five minutes in a fashionable pose - think Danielle skinny arms.

Take inspiration from P-Diddy, Tom Wolfe, Woody Allen, and Galdalf.
Wear it well. See you there.

I always have trouble wearing white, but I love an excuse to do it. This is neat. I'm proud of Toronto when they plan arty events....
